In 2017 I called:

15 contra evenings (5 gender-free Larks/Ravens)

1 contra weekend - Catapult Showcase!

1 dance camp - CDSS Pinewoods American Week*

23 MWSD squares evenings

1 “fun night”


* I taught MWSD to contra dancers all week long, but got to call contras in the evenings


Also attended as a dancer:

5 contra dance weekends/camps (3 gender-free)

1 IAGSDC MWSD convention (my 31st! consecutive)

Carmel MCDC - 2017.12.30

My final contra gig of 2017 was the New Year's Eve Eve dance in Carmel. I always enjoy working with Continental Drift (Eileen Nicholson Kalfass & Eric Anderson)! We had a good crowd with several new-comers who did quite well. Here's what I called:

I called the 2 hour contra dance at Palm Springs Swing & Mix 2017, the 34th annual convention of the IAGSDC. We were lucky to get the Syncopaths for our dance! There was a mix of contra dancers, Modern Western square dancers, and newcomers. Here's what I called:

It was a scorcher for the BACDS South Bay contra but an intrepid group showed up to dance! We had one very short set, and ran the dances pretty quickly, so we got in 14 dances and still ended a bit early due to the heat. Adrianna Ciccone, Sumaia Jackson provided lovely music. Catapult Showcase 2017

I had an incredible weekend in Atlanta as part of Catapult Showcase - 6 callers and 6 bands! My fellow callers were Emily Abel, Angela DeCarlis, Alex Deis-Lauby, Dave Eisenstader, and Erik Erhardt. The bands were Chimney Swift, InTentCity, Polaris, Tea&Whiskey, Tempest, and Turnip the Beet. Everyone was terrific with lots of great music and dances. I feel like we really bonded and enjoyed the experience. I would gladly work with any of them again in a heartbeat.
